6th & 7th Grade STEM Exploratory

Mr. Chadwick – Room 110

Summit STEM provides an action packed trimester of project-based learning with a strong emphasis on the connection to computer science and engineering career fields. Students will combine programming skills and 3D printed models to design, test, and improve robotic prototypes through Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) learning cycles. Projects include robotic mini-golf, planetary motion light art, dragon warrior triathlon, zoology predator vs. prey simulation, the 6th grade capstone event of autonomous water racing, and the 7th grade capstone finale of designing and testing a water rescue vehicle!

Learning continues outside of the normal classroom with HyperStream (computer science focused) and the Technology Student Association (TSA; engineering focused) after school clubs. Students participating are mentored and coached by professionals from John Deere and Principal Financial Group who further connect the activities to in-demand opportunities in Iowa. Please visit the Summit Middle School website for additional information!
